My challenge: Run a half marathon in every U.S. state by 2022.
I don’t love running.
Most days, I have to push myself to get going—to pump myself up, get my shoes on, and my butt out the door.
But I do love the way I feel after a run. That runner’s high? It’s a real thing, people! And so I do it. I run. Also, it gives me an excuse to eat whatever I want and not feel (too) bad about it.
Which brings me to part two of this challenge: traveling.
I love to travel—to experience new places, meet new people, and try out different types of foods.
This is an ambitious goal (for me), because part of the challenge will be finding the time and resources to travel and complete 50 half marathons by my deadline.
But it can be done. My colleague did it in six years. He’s the one that gave me the idea—thanks, Kevin! I’m giving myself a couple of extra years to squeeze in some international traveling and other life adventures.
And so, here goes.
Expect this blog to be filled with thoughts on training and nutrition, race information, travel logistics and adventures, and a lot of complaints about how sore my body is.
