In November, I impulsively decided to enter the 2018 Chicago Marathon lottery.
It’s been a couple of years since I ran my last (full) marathon (Marine Corps Marathon 2015), so I figured, why not?
Also, I’ve recently decided I would try and run all six of the World Marathon Majors — Chicago, New York, Boston, Berlin, London, and Tokyo. I figured this would be a goal I’d work on while continuing to complete my 50 states challenge.
People say the Chicago Marathon is one of the easiest of the Marathon Majors to get into.
But I didn’t think I would get in.
And as the weeks went by, I became ok with the idea of not getting in. Because if I did get in, that would mean training for a FULL marathon. And to be honest, I wasn’t sure I wanted to engage in that effort this summer.
But then I received an email. THE email. The one announcing my entry into the 2018 Chicago Marathon.
I got in!
So I guess I will be training this summer. 🙂
And that’s ok. It’s good actually.
I started looking into training programs, and it got me excited again. I’ll share the details of my plan with you guys later.
Have you done the Chicago Marathon? If so, did you enjoy it?
Have you done any of the World Marathon Majors? Any favorites?
That is awesome Nathasha, congratulations!! I was lucky enough to get selected in 2015 and had a great time. I wrote a couple posts about my experience on my blog, but it is an awesome race experience. It also still stands as my all-time favorite marathon and PR! Hopefully you’ll get to go for a few days to take in the whole experience.
Thanks so much, James! I’m excited and looking forward to experiencing this race. I’ll have to check out your blog posts about it soon! And yes, definitely planning on spending at least a few days out there. 🙂
Congrats Nathasha! Better you then me haha. Heard that marathon is absolutely amazing! Good luck:)
Thank you! 🙂
