Tucked away in a run-down shopping center in the Glenmont neighborhood of Silver Spring, Md. is a hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant called Szechuan Palace.
It looks a little sketchy. And a little dirty. But their combination fried rice is fantastic.
It is so good that I have them on my list of “favorites” on my iPhone.

People were outraged that such a suggestion would ever be made.
“Peas?! In guacamole?? No.”
Long holiday weekends are the best. Especially ones that involve fireworks.

And pretty soon, marathon training will be, too. (starts tomorrow, actually!)
I’m excited about doing the Marine Corps Marathon again. It’s such a fun event. So much energy. I also know a lot of people participating this year, which is cool.
I won the lottery again — the Marine Corps Marathon lottery!
Earlier this year, I was on the fence about whether or not I should enter. Was I ready for another full marathon? Did I really want to put in the time for training?
In the end, I decided to go for it – and I got in!
Happy Friday! I’m heading to NYC tonight — not for a race, but for my cousin’s bachelorette party. I’m hoping to squeeze in a quick run in Central Park Saturday morning before the all-day shenanigans begin.

It’s April — less than a month away from my first half marathon, and just a couple of weeks away from my first race of the year — the Pikes Peek 10k in Rockville, Md.
I don’t feel as prepared as I think I should.
I received an email yesterday saying, I “have reason to celebrate as one of the officially registered participants of the 39th Marine Corps Marathon.”
